Emily & Me

I do not consider myself yet to have taken hold of it. But one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead, I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus. Phil 3:13-14

Whoa, Baby!

I am having to make time now for the things that I used to do often, like update my blog! There is so much that has happened since my last entry! I won't go into too much detail, but here are the main points...

I am no longer breastfeeding. Long story short: I lost my milk supply due to Emily's inability to latch on and my inability to pump every 3 hours. Giving that up was one of the hardest decisions I have ever made! Now I am confident in that decision. Emily is doing great, she is gaining weight at a very healthy rate now, and I now have more time and emotional energy to spend with her. I look forward to the possibility of success in breastfeeding my next baby. I have heard many moms say they had a much easier time with the second or third child.

We have selected godparents for Emily. Scott and Luanne Adams are very close friends of ours, and even though they are older than us, they are the kind of couple that we would want to raise Emily if something were to happen to us. They have the strongest Biblical foundation of anyone we know, and they are willing to hold us accountable no matter what. We love them!!

Emily was dedicated to the Lord on Mother's Day (my first!) The ceremony was very sweet. We chose this verse for her:
And this is my prayer: that your love may abound more and more in knowledge and depth of insight, so that you may be able to discern what is best and may be pure and blameless until the day of Christ, filled with the fruit of righteousness that comes through Jesus Christ—to the glory and praise of God.
-Philippians 1:9-11
The dedication was in honor of our commitment to raise Emily according to the Word of God, and to pray earnestly for her life and salvation. I can't wait for the day that I get to tell her about Jesus, and I pray that she comes to know His love for her, and commits to love Him in return, and give her life to Him! What a wonderful day that would be!!

My, how she's grown!

One Month

Two Months

Three Months

I can't believe how much she has grown! I can't believe she is three months old!! Everything is going by so fast! Soon I will be bawling my eyes out at her wedding because these days did not last long enough...but I try not to think about that day. I much prefer to pretend to set her up with one-year-olds!

Ethan and Emily

They enjoy long crawls on the porch, and love to sip formula by the pool.
